  • Industry: Biotechnology
  • Company Size: 1,000 employees
  • Consultants Placed: 3
  • Obstacle: Company needed assistance implementing performance management and succession. Along with that, they also needed immediate UKG Pro core optimization, reconfiguration, and re-mapping of fields.

When a company’s HR team decides to integrate UKG HCM, the product suite can truly elevate and unify their HR functionality. It becomes a problem when this company is not given proper direction for their implementation, and they’re left with a bloated or sometimes semi-functional UKG HCM system that is not truly optimized to set their HR team up for success. The ALKU UKG team particularizes in getting organizations connected with expert talent when those organizations are looking to optimize their workforce through using UKG HCM.

The Challenge:
UKG HCM Integration

A Life Sciences company with over 1,000 employees and 25 individual entities underneath them decided to attempt a ‘go live’ of UKG Core and HCM with another partner. They ended up struggling with this partner, who kept delaying their implementation until the ‘go live’ was pushed by over three months. It was identified by ALKU’s UKG Team that this client would need help implementing performance management and succession. Along with that, they would also need immediate UKG Pro core optimization, reconfiguration, and re-mapping of fields.  In this client’s case, three different UKG experts would be needed to automate processes, workflows, and train end users, creating long-term documentation for users to learn the system going forward. This team would work hand in hand with UKG to increase feedback and ensure the tests and integrations were accurate. The other piece of the puzzle would be ensuring all ‘go-lives’ were prepared for and met promptly. The dedicated ALKU UKG team was ready to salvage the project and make certain experts were placed in the right roles to get this organization’s UKG needs met.

The Plan:
UKG Pro and HCM Experts

The ALKU UKG team began assembling the consultant team, vetting through 71 different candidates with the client involved to find the perfect fit for the project. Three positions were identified as key components needed to push all of these projects to the finish line. All manners of digital communication were exchanged regularly with the hiring team of the client, giving refined options for all three positions and even facilitating the interview process. Firstly, a UKG Pro BI Reporting expert was identified as being needed on a daily basis to use BI to pull and build reports for various teams for the client. This client had an extremely complex security grid and ran UKG for core and ADP for payroll. The UKG Pro BI Reporting expert also needed to work with various stakeholders to build out custom dashboards. On top of this role, two different UKG HCM Analysts were also identified as necessary for the project. These analysts would be needed on a daily basis to work on tier 1 support activities including light configuration, light reporting, and security administration. Prior implementation experience would be a must but the key requirement for these individuals would be to keep the lights on. These two resources would also be working on anything additionally that falls in the umbrella of HRIS, from fixing single sign ons to helping with onboarding and finding new automations.

The Result:
UKG Implementation and Succession

Three consultants were identified by the client as being the perfect fit to get the UKG HCM and Pro implemented and optimized. As the project moved along, each ‘go-live’ deadline was met, successfully implementing a proper UKG Pro Performance management and succession with optimizations. All the client’s internal users were also successfully trained on the new systems and processes, and long-term UKG user documentation was created to confirm prolonged and permanent success for years to come within the client’s HR ops.
